Hi everyone,
First off, I'm a big fan of your work, especially Cornshaq's. I've left various comments on his Youtube videos as "EmptyeyeDotCom" (Most recently asking about the Master System and Turbo Grafx versions of Ninja Gaiden), and I was also the "Shut up and play, Cornshaq!" guy early in the Stars of Dreamland marathon (Which was quite entertaining, and which I donated $5 toward the cause).
Anyway, I wanted to post and spread the word about the Speed Demos Archive Charity Marathon, which I'll be participating in. It's going on from Friday, January 1st at about 6PM until roughly midnight January 4th (So about 54 hours all told). The theme of the marathon is simply "classic games", and we'll be playing a bunch of games from the NES/SNES/Genesis. You can check out a nearly-complete rough schedule (As in 'don't expect us to be able to follow it to the minute', although there won't be any major changes between now and then) here in a Google Spreadsheet.
What else...our charity of choice is CARE, which is dedicated to fighting poverty internationally (This was important to us, since SDA has a lot of non-US speedrunners, at least one of which is participating in the marathon). More specifically, they focus on helping women in the third world epcape poverty by trying to end some of its root causes--systemic discrimination, social conflict, corrupt governments, etc.
When the time comes, you'll be able to watch the marathon from the SDA main page, although we're trying to get a dedicated separate site for it too. Hopefully you'll drop by, check it out and even donate!
Thanks for the forum, and I'll make sure to check out the DK Marathon in January!
